Canadian Art Resources

There are several resources that are dedicated to serving the Canadian Artist community. These include, but are not limited to:

  1. CARFAC, which stands for Canadian Artists’ Representation/le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC). This great organization supports and unites artists. They have an array of forms and services for artists to help them be professional and to negotiate with others in the art world. For one, they have good copyright support and will help you with cross-border paperwork for internationals shows and overseas sales.

  2. Federation of Canadian Artists. The title of this organization sound really good, but I’m not so crazy about them. Why? They mainly promote very traditional, technically-competent art, as opposite to orginal creative expression and ‘pushing the envelop’-kind of art. Nothing that ever hangs in their gallery will make it in New York City. In fact, anything that could make it in NYC would be filtered out. My point of view. Check it out, you might like it.

  3. Canadian Artists and Producers Professional Relations Tribunal. This government site’s objective is to contribute to Canada’s cultural community by encouraging constructive professional relations between artists and producers in federal jurisdiction.
  4. Welcome to Artists In Canada, a national directory of Canadian artists, art galleries, associations and art resources.
  5. Some local towns also maintain public registers of local artists in their community.
